Programme: In this 5 day course,  we will explore, experience and discuss the essence of thai yoga massage, the work on the energy lines. Devoting a whole day to working on a single line starting with a demonstration, we then experience the line as giver and receiver, developing a sense of the quality of energy and power of that specific line. On the first day, our attention is focussed on Sen Sumana, the line related to primeval aspects of our existence, while the second day will be devoted to Sen Ittha and Pingkhala, the male and female aspect. On the next day, we will explore Sen Kalathari, the line related to emotional and psychic energy, while the fourth day will be devoted to Sen Sahatsarangsi and Tawari, the lines related to grounding and the digestion of experience. On the 5th day, we will exchange a full body massage, with a focus on the balance between the lines.
This course is offered to advanced students and practitioners, regardless of their previous background. You will receive a certificate of tuition after the completion of the course.

Programme: For those who have completed a beginners course, this course will focus on the side position, aiming to give as complete massages as possible to those patients with difficulty receiving the other positions. In a western therapeutic context, these cases will be quite frequent, as many patients will be too stiff, heavy or fat to receive the other positions. The side position is the one most people usually sleep in, therefore it allows for a lot of relaxation and letting-go on the side of the patient. As a lot of the material is given from sitting on the ground, less work and effort are required from the therapist, with more fun involved with the dynamic rocking motions incorporated into the programme. The course also offers at least a full day devoted to theoretical and practical training for giving massages to pregnant women.

The teachers in the region are heavily influenced by traditional thai massage practice, therapeutic abdominal massage, and Chi Nei Tsang from China (as one of the main teachers of this work, Mantak Chia, is based in Tao garden close to Chiang Mai). Programme: The first two days will be devoted to the questions surrounding the topic of giving thai massages to pregnant women: when can it be done, what to take care of, points to press and to avoid, how to make the situation as comfortable as possible for the soon-to-be-mother, and other technical questions will be discussed and demonstrated by Bali during two daily demonstrations, giving two massages a day, to two pregnant participants. The time after the demonstrations will be devoted to practicing thai yoga massage on each other. This part of the retreat, as its focussing solely on pregnancy, is open to pregnant women with no background in thai massage, who wish to receive massages, and also pregnant practicioners who wish to give and receive treatments. Couples where the woman is pregnant and the partner is a therapist are welcome. Also couples can attend where the parther has no previous experience but wishes to give her massages. In this case, some reading material might be prescribed before the course about enegy lines and the theory of thai yoga massage, and its a good idea to receive a thai massage with a Sunshine Network practicioner. The evening programme will be devoted to sharing personal stories, advice and experiences regarding pregnancy by those present. The daily schedule can be personalised for the pregnant participants according to their needs. The second two days of the retreat will focus on therapies in thai yoga massage, presented in a practical, hands-on way by taking a participant in the morning, and one in the afternoon, and giving them a treatment in which the group also actively takes part in feeling and helping the process. This part of the retreat, with a similar schedule as the first half, will focus on whatever the participants bring to the mattress. The pregnant participants of the first two days are welcome to stay and relax, and take some time enjoying the beautiful surroundings, lovely food, and friendly atmosphere.

Programme: For those who have completed a beginners course of 60 hours or more, this course will focus on the side position, aiming to give as complete massages as possible to those patients with difficulty receiving the other positions. In a western therapeutic context, these cases will be quite frequent, as many patients will be too stiff, heavy or fat to receive the other positions. The side position is the one most people usually sleep in, therefore it allows for a lot of relaxation and letting-go on the side of the patient. As a lot of the material is given from sitting on the ground, less work and effort are required from the therapist, with more fun involved with the dynamic rocking motions incorporated into the programme. The course also offers training for giving massages to pregnant women. Programme: during the four day workshop, we spend each morning and afternoon session with a hands on treatment with Bali, given to one of the participants. This will be “laboratory demo-treatment”, ie: the different sensations tangible to the therapist will be highlighted by Bali, and sensed by all students through touch on the spot, as well as therapeutic guidelines pinpointed, indicating the reasons (or not reasons) for choosing  a particular direction or area to continue with during the treatment. The tailoring of a massage to suit the needs of a client, as well as the guidelines of therapeutics will thus be studied in practice in two ways: once felt on ourselves, and on the other occasions demonstrated on our fellow students. The time after these sessions will be devoted to giving and receiving full body massages supervised by teachers with feedback.

Programme: the 4 day advanced workshop begins with the fine tuning of the beginners material. During the course of the first two mornings, we will focus on the questions and weak points of participants in connection to their full body massage. 10) 6 day Introduction to Thai Yoga Massage with Bali, at FreedOMe, DS, Slovakia

Date: The weekends of  November 25.,26.,December 2., 3., and December 9., 10.,  2017
Topic: A 6 day (3 weekend) introductory course in good friend Ivan Matis’s great community centre, FreedOMe in Dunaszerdahely, aka Dunajska Streda. With a backbone of vipassana meditation and taichi, this course is suitable as a intro to thai yoga massage, and also recommended for repeaters,  as a refresher. All assistants welcome. Teaching will be in Hungarian, usually with an assistant to help english speakers. We will be travelling by rail from Budapest via Komarno every Friday evening, a trip of about 1,5 hours, and return to BP the same way Sunday evenings. Accomodation in the centre, travel together also welcome! Close to Praha, Bratislava, Budapest.

1) Thai Herbal Balls and Advanced Lower-back pain Therapy Weekend with Bali, BP

Date: 2015 October 10.-11., 10-18h

Course description: On the first day of our workshop, we explore the treatments available for lower back pain with the tools of thaimassage therapy, including the questions of how to place the patient comfortably, energy lines and therapy points to emphasize. This day is only open to those who have successfully completed a beginners course with the Sunshine Network. 2) 12 day Beginners Course in Traditional Thai Yoga Massage with  Bali and Zoltan, BP

Date: 2015 October 18.-24. (Part I.), and December 11.-15. (Part II.)

Place: Budapest, SriOm Studio, Kelenhegyi u. 15 (5 mins. walk from “Gellért tér” metro/tram/bus station).

Contents of the course: This 108 hours training retreat includes a systematic tuition of a full body Thai Yoga massage, an introduction to the theory of energy lines and therapeutic work. Through the daily practice of Tai Chi, Chi-kung, Vipassana, Metta meditation and chantig, we will develop awareness, love and compassion, warming our hearts and our massage practice. Prices : in an attempt to accomodate for the economic situation in Europe, there are 3 price categories. I. Northern Europe and other Westerners: 800 Euros, II. Southern Europe (Greece, Portugal, Italy, Spain): 600 Euros, III. Eastern Europe: 450 Euros. The prices include tuition, course materials, and two bathing sessions at the Gellért baths (5 miutes walk), one in October and one in December. Food and accomodation are not included (menus available in vegetarian cafes in the vicinity, while guests can stay at the venue for a donation in limited numbers, please email Zoltan).

Assistants are welcome, fee is 250E, repeaters are welcome to join @ 25E per day.

5) 6 day beginners course with Bali in Dunaszerdahely, Slovakia

Dates: November 21.-22., November 28.-29., December 5.-6.

Place: FreedOMe, Dunaszerdahely (Dunajská Streda, Slovakia), Kistejedi u. 515/8

Contents of the course: During our 3 weekends, we will systematically work through the material of Balis book,  “Nuad Bo Rarn-Bevezetés a thai masszázsba” (Introduction to thai massage, under translation), with a morning training of vipassana and tai chi.  We complete the course with a repertoire suitable to give a full body massage, and a touch radiating the loving kindness “Metta” that is a cornerstone in this tradition. The course is registered with the International Academy of Massage, which provides all those successfully completing the course with a certificate. We welcome those who have already done a beginners course with the Sunshine Network or other northern styles (this would be a great refresher, as well as a little new material), please write to Ivan Matis for details.
